3 Things Getting In The Way of You and The Life That You Want
I believe you deserve to be happy, have success, and enjoy the rewarding life you want. I believe you deserve to live your life fully – and above all, to feel alive. So why is it that so many people settle for a life that, in some shape or form, feels second best to them? Why do some people settle for a life that feels more like a treadmill and an existence than a life they love?
Here are three of the main reasons that hold people back from getting the happiness and success they want in life:
(If one of these three reasons applies to you, then take heart, for they are all learned behaviours and learned ways of thinking, and as such, they can be turned around!)
#1: You expect somebody or something else to come along and fix things for you.
Too often, people wait for a magic wand; they wait for someone else to fix things for them or ‘something’ to happen. They sit back and wait as if a magic genie will appear and grant their wishes without them doing much at all.
Life, however, is not like that. To live the best life, you have to play your part.
It’s your mind, body, life, and choices.
If you’re not happy with your life, you need to take responsibility for it. You have to get in the driving seat and change things yourself. If you want different results in life than you are currently getting, then acknowledge and recognise that, and be prepared to do something different. Keep on doing the same old same things every day, will only bring you much more of the same….
#2: You perceive boundaries, ‘glass ceilings’, and limitations you think you can’t go beyond
Too often, people think they’ve got a glass ceiling beyond which they can’t go in their career, love life, relationships, or financial situation. Too often, people think they have limitations and boundaries around their world, and become very accepting of those boundaries and see them as true.
In essence, people become comfortable with their ‘discomfort’, and end up playing small and staying small. They become accepting of their circumstances because of the limiting beliefs that they hold. Know, however, that for the most part, the only boundaries around your world are the ones you put there.
Most of your limitations exist in your mind only. And so, you must focus on finding solutions, not on your current problems. See a bright and wonderful future and know you have all the strength and resources within you to create the life you both want and deserve.
#3: You let fear of failure, fear of judgement of others, fear of disappointment hold you back…
Make no bones about it; fear is restrictive. And if you let it, it can stop you from getting what you want in life. Fear comes in many shapes and forms and comes in varying strengths and intensities. The most common fears that hold people back in life are fear of failure, fear of judgement of others, fear of making a fool of themselves, fear of disappointment – or fear of not being clever enough or healthy enough, wealthy enough, pretty/handsome enough, intelligent or smart enough. It’s all too easy to let fear act as a prison, and it will put restrictions around your world…..
Know that fear is a normal human emotion, and the best way to dissipate it is to do the thing you fear most. If we only ever did what we were truly comfortable doing, we would never expand our lives or grow.
So throw off worrying about what people will think or say about you, fear or disappointment, fear of not quite managing it. If you don’t go after what you want in life, you’ll likely look back on your life with regret.
So be YOU. Fully express you. Listen to the voice inside that’s telling you there’s more for you to do and be in life. Life isn’t meant to feel like a treadmill. So make today the day you say ‘Enough is Enough’.
You deserve to be happy. You deserve to live the best life.
So take responsibility for your life, throw off perceived limitations and face your fears and do things anyway. Otherwise, you will always have a gap between where you are in life, what you have in life – and the life you truly want.
