'The Secret to Feeling Alive and Living a Life of No Limits'
Bill Hybels: “Storms often draw something out of us that calm seas don’t.”
Without experiencing the highest of highs in life, and at the other extreme the lowest of lows, our heart and soul, and depth of emotions we feel, would remain constant and unchanged.
It would be difficult for us to differentiate between joy and boredom, between pain and comfort, between anxiety and calm, between dark and light, or love and hate.
Everything would be static.
Everything would bring us the same depth of feelings, and stir repetitive similar actions.
Good, bad or indifferent; black, grey or white; storms or calm sea – it would all appear to us the same.
The deepest and most meaningful things in life are often brought to our attention through not just the good times, but the bad times also.
These moments at both ends of the spectrum often are significant learning points for us if we open our eyes, mind and heart wide to the gifts these periods bring.
The truth is, a life of constant bliss would indeed teach us nothing.
We need the juxtaposition at the other end of the emotional spectrum to fully emerge and develop into the most awesome and highest version of ourselves we can humanly be.
As I look out of my window today, it’s a dull damp grey day here in Scotland.
But it’s not where my eyes are drawn to.
Looking beyond the grey sky, and within the midst of it, there is such a beautiful patch of the most amazing azure blue.

PS: So love the following Iain S. Thomas quote. Hope you do too 🙂
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard.
Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let bitterness steal sweetness.
Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree,
you still believe it to be a beautiful place.”
